Atletico confirm Morata

Atletico Madrid have the signing of Alvaro Morata from Chelsea.

The striker, who fell completely out of favor with Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri, will move to Wanda Metropolitano on an 18-month loan, as the two clubs agreed.

Morata spent four seasons at Atletico s academy under the name Alevin , and during that time he played alongside Koke, and the La Liga side happily point out that the pair of them will now be reunited in the first team.

The Spanish international, however, made his name across town playing for Real Madrid for which he signed his first professional contract, before moving to Juventus in 2014. Real exercised their buy-back option two years later and sold them to Chelsea after a season of having him back. It s fair to say he didn t impress for…

Hazard is second only to Messi – Rudiger

Antonio Rudiger believes only Lionel Messi is better than Chelsea team-mate Eden Hazard in world football.

Hazard has been Chelsea s star man since arriving from Lille in 2012, but he has failed to challenge dominant duo Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo for the Ballon d Or.

However, despite Ronaldo s current monopolisation of the award, Germany s Rudiger ranks Messi as the world s best and claims Hazard is his nearest challenger.

Asked about the task of handling France forward Kylian Mbappe in the Nations League, Rudiger replied: Mbappe is unbelievably fast, really good. To stop him, you have to do it as a team, because alone good luck!

But for me, the best in the world is Messi, then Hazard.

And the Chelsea defender credits Hazard s strong start to …

Investigation into alleged Levante-Real Zaragoza match fixing dropped

An investigation into the alleged fixing of a LaLiga match between Levante and Real Zaragoza in 2011 has been dropped.

The long-running legal process has been brought to a close due to a lack of evidence indicating that any crime was committed.

A judge in Valencia ruled on Tuesday that there was insufficient proof that any individual had attempted to fix the outcome of the match. An appeal can be lodged against the decision.

Anti-corruption authorities in Spain had been investigating whether Zaragoza s 2-1 victory over Levante, which secured their escape from relegation in the 2010-11 season, had been arranged in advance.

An official complaint was filed by prosecutors in December 2014 in which players, coaches and directors from both clubs were accused of…

The 21-year-old has been on the books of the Baggies his entire professional club football career so far, but the forward has made only a handful of appearances for the first team.

Guardiola on Diaz: If he doesn´t want to stay, he has to leave

Pep Guardiola insists Manchester City have done everything to secure Brahim Diaz on a long-term contract amid reports the youngster has agreed to join Real Madrid.

The 19-year-old former Malaga youngster signed for City in 2013 and scored his first senior goals with a brace in the 2-0 EFL Cup win over Fulham on November 1.

However, he is yet to add to five Premier League appearances from 2017-18, with competition fierce for attacking positions in Guardiola s side.

As such, Diaz looks set to join Jadon Sancho – the ex-City winger who moved to Borussia Dortmund last year and subsequently broke into the England setup – in seeking opportunities with another elite European club.

The case with Brahim is simple. We want him. We want to extend his contract…

BREAKING NEWS: Man City sign Ruben Dias as Otamendi joins Benfica

Manchester City have signed centre-back Ruben Dias from Benfica in a transfer worth an initial £62million (€68m) with Nicolas Otamendi heading the opposite way in a separate deal.

The Portuguese side confirmed the news on their official website on Sunday, shortly before announcing a €15m (£13.67m) deal is in place for Otamendi.

Van der Vaart: Isco the best player in the world

Rafael van der Vaart claims out-of-favour Real Madrid midfielder Isco is the best player in the world as he struggles for game time at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Isco s future in Madrid is uncertain, with head coach Santiago Solari continuing to overlook the Spain international amid links to Premier League champions Manchester City.

The 26-year-old has only made five LaLiga starts this season, though he was named in the starting XI on Wednesday as Madrid lost 1-0 to Leganes but still advanced to the Copa del Rey quarter-finals 3-1 on aggregate.

Former Madrid midfielder Van der Vaart who retired in November has been left baffled by Isco s snub.

It s crazy for me, he is the best player in the world, Van der Vaart told Marca.

But, he always has problem…

Jeremy Doku believes Manchester City’s quality makes it ‘easy’ for him to shine

Jeremy Doku claims it is easy to shine in a team as good as Manchester City.

The Belgian winger was the standout performer as the champions thrashed Bournemouth 6-1 to return to the top of the Premier League on Saturday.

Doku opened the scoring and then had a hand in the next four goals as the Cherries were overwhelmed in a one-sided encounter at the Etihad Stadium.

It continued the positive impression the 21-year-old has made since his £55.4million move from Rennes, but Doku himself was modest about his output.

“I’m very proud but in this team it is so easy because there is a lot of movement,” Doku said.

“Everybody is top and when you play with top players it is easy to find the right pass, to find the right time to do something.

Gattuso still not satisfied with Milan despite fourth straight win

Gennaro Gattuso urged AC Milan to deliver improved performances despite their fourth consecutive Serie A win moving them up to third.

Milan leapfrogged city rivals Inter thanks to Saturday s 1-0 home win against Sassuolo, which came thanks to a Pol Lirola own goal.

Sassuolo s hopes of a comeback were then dented when goalkeeper Andrea Consigli was dismissed for bringing down Milan striker Krzysztof Piatek.

The Rossoneri are unbeaten in nine games in all competitions and on track to reach the Coppa Italia final after a 0-0 first-leg draw away to Lazio in the last four, but Gattuso thinks his side can still improve.

I take the positive results against Empoli, Lazio and Sassuolo, but we have got to do better, the Milan coach told Sky Sport Italia.
