Liverpool in shock Solanke bid

Liverpool are on the verge of completing a surprise deal for Chelsea striker Domonic Solanke, according to the Mirror.

The nineteen year old failed to agree a new deal at Stamford Bridge, and now Liverpool are ready swoop in as they look to strengthen ahead of a return to the Champions League.

He is set to move to Anfield on a free transfer though the Blues will receive compensation of around £3m due to him being under twenty-four.

Solanke failed to make a single appearance for the Champions last season, and actually hasn’t featured for the club at all since he made his debut in a 6-0 Champions League win over Maribo in October 2014.

He did have a successful loan spell with Dutch side Vitesse Arnhem the following season, where he scored seven tim…

Shevchenko joins Ukraine coaching staff

Former AC Milan and Chelsea striker Andriy Shevchenko has joined Ukraine s coaching staff ahead of Euro 2016.

The 39-year-old, who is the top scorer in the national team s history with 48 goals, has replaced Olexandr Zavarov in Mikhail Fomenko s set-up.

Shevchenko, who has completed a two-year course to gain a UEFA coaching licence, admitted he is thrilled to be joining the group ahead of the finals in France this year.

Lyon insist Moussa Dembele not for sale amid Chelsea links

Lyon have insisted Moussa Dembele is not for sale amid reports Chelsea want to buy the striker.

Dembele has hit 25 goals in 51 Ligue 1 appearances since joining Les Gones from Scottish giants Celtic in 2018, though he has only netted one Champions League goal in 12 games for the club.

His form is said to have caught the eye of Chelsea, who are seeking competition for Tammy Abraham after their transfer ban was reduced on appeal.

Reports in France claim Chelsea made an initial offer of €40million (£33.9million) for Dembele, who was linked to Manchester United last July, but Lyon released a statement on Thursday reiterating their determined stance on the 23-year-old striker s future.

Lyon has taken note of certain information relayed by the media suggest…

Randolph joins Middlesbrough in £5m move

Darren Randolph has completed a £5million transfer from West Ham to Middlesbrough after the arrival of Joe Hart saw him fall down the pecking order at London Stadium.

The Republic of Ireland international made 22 Premier League appearances for the Hammers in 2016-17, helping Slaven Bilic s side finish 11th, but Hart s signing on loan from Manchester City left him unlikely to be first choice in the new season.

Randolph joined West Ham on a free transfer after being released by Birmingham City in 2015 and Bilic told the club s official website: I would like to thank Darren for his service to the club over the past two years. He has been a fantastic professional and, as a player and a person, has the respect of everyone at West Ham.

Thanks for the memories, ! Her…

Dembele: I´m staying at Lyon

Moussa Dembele is prepared to frustrate a host of admirers and remain at Lyon at least until the end of the season.

Manchester United are reported to have sent a scout to watch striker Dembele in Tuesday s Coupe de la Ligue semi-final clash with Lille, the 23-year-old scoring a first-half penalty and then converting his spot-kick in a shoot-out as Lyon edged through.

Dembele, who has also been linked with Chelsea and Tottenham, joined Lyon in 2018 and is in no rush to leave.

He told reporters after the game: I am a Lyon player and I will remain so until the end of the season.

I do not think that there will be a departure this winter. Lots of things are being said but it s up to me to ignore that and remain concentrated on the pitch.

Pereira tries to ease Porto pressure

Porto coach Vitor Pereira does not believe Wednesday s Champions League match against APOEL will be decisive.

Europa League holders hopes in the competition were dealt a heavy blow by their 3-1 defeat at Zenit St Petersburg last month.

Porto are now third in the group, and as they prepare for the match against APOEL, whom they beat twice in the 2009-10 edition of the tournament, Vitor Pereira has played down the importance of the contest.

This will be an important game, just like every game, Pereira said. We want the victory, this is just another game we want to win.

I do not believe it will be decisive, but it is important that we take the three points.

They surprised Zenit at home and Shakhtar in Donetsk and are well organised, they have h…

Hearts hit with winding-up order

A motion to issue Scottish Premier League club Hearts with a winding-up order has been lodged at the Court of Session in Edinburgh.

The petition, which is to be heard on Thursday, is believed to involve a tax bill owing to Her Majesty s Customs and Revenue.

Hearts owned by Lithuanian businessman Vladimir Romanov have been issued with winding orders in 2009 and 2010 over unpaid taxes, which were later settled after the club paid the bills.

Concern over the state of Hearts finances grew when the Scottish players union lodged an official complaint with the SPL on Tuesday over unpaid wages.

The players latest payments were expected on October 16, and late payments have twice failed to arrive as expected.

While players and coaching staff remain unpaid…
